Overview
How might we design a portfolio website for a Learning Design Studio that effectively showcases their projects and attracts future clients?
As a Senior UX/UI Designer, I was tasked with redesigning the portfolio website for SOGLAB, a London-based Learning Experience Design studio. The challenge was to effectively showcase their award-winning case studies, services, and learning programs while simplifying complex concepts for potential clients in the rapidly evolving AI-driven educational landscape.
Problem
SOGLAB faced a significant challenge in communicating their innovative offerings due to the "curse of knowledge." Their brand messaging had become too complex for potential clients to understand and appreciate, particularly in the context of AI-driven educational solutions. This complexity was hindering client engagement, potentially reducing market share, and affecting revenue generation.
Problem Statement
SOGLAB needed to effectively showcase its award-winning case studies, services, and learning programs because they struggled with the curse of knowledge, resulting in their brand messaging becoming too complex for potential clients to understand and appreciate their innovative offerings in the rapidly evolving AI-driven educational landscape.

Brand Analysis
I began by thoroughly analysing SOGLAB's existing brand identity and communication strategy.

User Research
Conducted interviews with potential clients to understand their pain points and needs when seeking educational design services.

Competitive Analysis
Examined competitors' websites to identify best practices and opportunities for differentiation.
Information Architecture
Developed a new structure for the website that prioritised clarity and ease of navigation.

Design System Creation
Created a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency across all brand touch points.
Prototyping and Testing
Developed interactive prototypes and conducted user testing to refine the design.

The solution, named "SOGLAB 4.0 Web Page," included several key components:
New Branding
Developed a new logo, color palette, and typography that reflect SOGLAB's innovative approach and commitment to fostering creative and analytical thinking.


New Design System
Created a comprehensive toolkit ensuring consistent brand representation across all platforms, including typography, color schemes, iconography, and UI patterns.


New Thumbnails for Education Programs
Designed distinctive thumbnails for each learning journey, maintaining corporate identity while providing unique visual cues for programs like the Creative Wisdom™ Certification Program.


Logo Animation
Created a dynamic logo animation to enhance brand presence and engagement, capturing the essence of SOGLAB's innovative approach to learning and design.
Simplified Content Strategy
Restructured the website content to present complex concepts in a more accessible manner, focusing on the value proposition of each service and program.


Interactive Case Studies
Developed an interactive format for showcasing award-winning case studies, allowing potential clients to explore SOGLAB's work in depth.
Results
The launch of SOGLAB's redesigned website brought impressive results within the first month:
Website traffic surged, with 40% more unique visitors exploring our new design. Users like USER#27, a potential client searching for innovative learning solutions, spent an average of 2.5 minutes on the site - a 25% increase from before.
Engagement skyrocketed. We saw a 30% jump in page views per session, and our bounce rate dropped by 15%. This meant people like USER#44, a busy executive browsing on his smartphone, found our content compelling enough to stick around and explore further.
Our redesign sparked conversations. Social media mentions of SOGLAB increased by 60%, and our brand recall improved by 25% in post-launch surveys. We were becoming more memorable and talked about.
Most importantly, these improvements translated into tangible business results. In the first quarter after launch, we saw:
